A few lines a day.
Traces is a journal for people who don't keep journals. Write what stuck with you — a sentence, something overheard, a photo — and the rest of the day is already there: the weather it was, the walks you took, the song you had on repeat.
A line, not a page
Words, something overheard, a photo or a small album, a place, a mood in one word. Each is a moment, and a day is a handful of them.
The day writes itself
Open Traces and the weather is already there, with every walk you finished drawn on the map from Apple Health. Nothing else arrives without you, and anything you delete stays deleted.
The year at a glance
Every day you kept, marked by what it held. Open a month, find a day, and write into the ones you missed.
Where do my entries live?
On your iPhone or iPad, and in your own private iCloud so they follow you between them. There's no account and no server of ours: nothing you write is sent to us.
What does it add on its own?
The day's weather, and walks you finished, from Apple Health — each one you turn on. Traces only reads from Health, never writes to it. Delete something it added and it won't come back.
Is there an iPad version?
Yes. On iPad the timeline opens up into a ledger, with the Index in a panel beside it and the composer docked on the other side. Write with Apple Pencil and each line is filed as you write: a dash for words, a circle for a place, a dot for a mood.
Are there widgets?
Two. Highlight brings back a year ago today, yesterday's best moment or the song on repeat. Prompt asks the question for the time of day and lets you log your mood without opening the app.
